Make it Slow 03:41
The road is twisting up the mountain Don’t know what I’ll find up there I step off the bus, breathe it all in I feel more than snow in this air The ski lodge is home the next few days And the common room is open late You’re standing there, bright eyes and tousled hair I smile, caught up in this winter haze And it feels like I’ve known you for a lifetime before You say heaven must have dropped an angel at your door So maybe if I hold you tighter, I’m not gonna have to go And you’re the best thing I’ve stumbled on Just thought that you should know Ooh, and if I could make time stop, I would it in this moment If this moment’s all I’ve got with you Make it slow, make it slow Beside the fire we talk for hours But it’s just as good without a word Your hand on my knee, we feel that electricity You say my laugh’s the most perfect thing you’ve heard Maybe if I hold you tighter, I’m not gonna have to go And you’re the best thing I’ve stumbled on, just thought that you should know Ooh, and if I could make time stop, I would it in this moment If this moment’s all I’ve got with you Make it slow ‘Cause I don’t want to let go Of something so rare I want to breathe you in with the midnight air And maybe if I hold you tighter, I’m not gonna have to go And you’re the best thing I’ve stumbled on Just thought that you should know Ooh, and if I could make time stop, I would in this moment ‘Cause this moment’s all I’ve got With you Make it slow, make it slow The road is twisting down the mountain

You gave me scars, I wear them well You took my pay, put me through hell, but We’ll catch you, red-handed, soon, I can tell I served my time, I made it through, but I’ve done no crime, that’s all been you You dropped my name in the dirt, and dragged it though I’m never getting back what you stole My treasure ain’t all silver and gold And I’ve walked that plank, paid my dues You’ve taken everything I had to lose Long John Silver, you’re all smoke and mirrors For a pretty penny, you sold your soul They all warned me, “fire in the hole!” Soon enough, you’ll be dragged over the coals I’m never getting back what you stole My treasure ain’t all silver and gold And I’ve walked that plank, paid my dues You’ve taken everything I had to lose Long John Silver For a nickel and a dime, you’re robbing cowgirls blind It’s a matter of time, until We blow that smoke, smash that glass Bare your lies, at last Soon you’ll be, nothin’ but a pain in the past I’m never getting back what you stole My treasure ain’t all silver and gold And I’ve walked that plank, paid my dues Now I’ve got nothin’ left to lose I see right through Your smoke and mirrors I see right through Your smoke and mirrors

Hades 03:29
Stole me in the dark of night, liked my little spark of light Took it for yourself, knew I never felt right For you it got old, tossed me with the lost souls Deep down, in your underground, underground So why I do I miss your touch, the way you made me blush When you only miss my blind trust? Hey, Hades, hiding all your ladies, hung up on the maybes Never gonna try, I Sprung your little loophole, now you’re sinking so low, played me like a banjo Strung me up, then wove your alibi, I, I, alibi, I, I, alibi, I, I And now it’s time I say goodbye, I say goodbye, I, I, say goodbye, I, I I was your “guilty pleasure,” your “now, but not forever” Your “killing time,” thought I’d never figure you, figure you out Persephone; knew how to get the best of me Hid me from the sun and poisoned me with all of your, all of your doubt So now I don’t I miss your touch, never wanted you that much And you kept it all so…hush Hey, Hades, hiding all your ladies, hung up on the maybes Never gonna try, I Sprung your little loophole, now you’re sinking so low, played me like a banjo Strung me up, then wove your alibi, I, I, alibi, I, I, alibi, I, I And now it’s time I say goodbye, I say goodbye, I, I, say goodbye, I, I I waited ‘til the dark of night, the dark of night (waited and waited and waited) Took my little spark of light, and left you behind (waited and waited and waited) I waited ‘til the dark of night, the dark of night (waited and waited and waited) Took my little spark of light, and left you behind Hades, hiding all your ladies, hung up on the maybes Never gonna try, I Sprung your little loophole, now you’re sinking so low, played me like a banjo Strung me up, then wove your alibi, I, I, alibi, I, I, alibi, I, I And now it’s time I say goodbye, I say goodbye, I, I, say goodbye, I, I I waited ‘til the dark of night, took back my little spark of light Left your underworld and I never looked behind

Your burgundy flannel, those burnt out candles Reminders everywhere, like ghosts from our past There’s that joke that you told, my dinner goes cold Two months gone, but it puts me back in nights when we were Side by side, our fingers intertwined Your forehead touching mine, couldn’t get any closer if we tried Maybe you needed more time, maybe I crossed a line Maybe we moved too fast, if we’d just slowed down, we would’ve been fine Maybe we’re meant to last, but you never gave the chance And maybe, maybe I’m worth more than maybe, maybe, yeah I’m worth more than maybe, maybe, yeah A strong cappuccino, Post-its we wrote Reminders everywhere, like ghosts from our past There’s that song we danced to, that café where I met you Ten months on, I still can’t escape that night you told me “It’s just not right,” I pleaded, “stay and fight Don’t leave, hold me tight” And that was the first time I saw you cry Maybe you needed more time, maybe I crossed a line Maybe we moved too fast, if we’d just slowed down, we would’ve been fine Maybe we’re meant to last, but you never gave the chance And maybe, maybe I’m worth more than maybe, maybe, yeah I’m worth more than maybe, maybe, yeah Maybe I’m moving on While maybe you’ll see what you had Now it’s gone Maybe I shouldn’t still care, but maybe I broke through your wall Maybe you were scared and it was just too much when you felt it all Maybe we’re meant to last, but you blew your only chance ‘Cause baby, baby I’m worth more than maybe, oh I’m worth more than maybe, maybe, yeah Maybe (maybe), maybe (maybe) Maybe (maybe)

Mess Around 03:20
I finally called your bluff, and suddenly it’s too much You never follow through when it comes to love But I see how you look at me, feel the blazing chemistry You find it kinda ha-ha-hard to breathe You’re addicted to the chase, won’t put in the time it takes And all I’m thinkin’ while we’re standin’ face to face is Fine. I admit I feel the heat, and you’re makin’ my knees weak But I’m not going to take this lying down I can tell you feel the rush, have a look, but you can’t touch ‘Cause, I’m not the type to mess around Ever since we first met, you’re here one day, gone the next Bet you only want the one thing you can’t get You say that you can’t resist, well you ain’t walkin over this You can only imagine the sweet taste of my lips They see how I look at you, like there’s no one else in the room But you’re lookin at me like that too, so Fine. I admit I feel the heat, and you’re makin’ my knees weak But I’m not going to take this lying down I can tell you feel the rush, have a look, but you can’t touch ‘Cause, I’m not the type to mess around Oh, no, no I’m so glad you showed me how you really felt I ain’t just another notch in your leather belt So we’ll pretend that we’re just friends for now But it’s in your eyes, you can’t deny how You’ll always the heat, and I’m makin’ your knees weak But you don’t dare speak, ‘cause you’re with someone else right now I can tell you feel the rush, have a look but you can’t touch, ‘cause You’re just the type to mess around, oh Mess around, yeah Mess around, oh Have a look but you can't touch, ‘cause You’re just the type to mess around So mess around, yeah Oh, oh no, no
6.
Blurring the lines one too many times, you pull me close Your voice or your touch, I just don’t know what I like the most Yeah, just one more hit, I swear I will quit, it’s dangerous I admit Your skin down to your core, I just want more Why’d you have to know the right things to say? Why’d you have to keep blowing me away? Why’d you have to make me want you so bad? Why’d you have to do that? Swear you’ll behave, I peel back the layers ‘neath that grin Unsolvable puzzle, look at the trouble that we’re in Like whiskey on ice, I’m your perfect type, it’s wrong, but it feels so right Your skin down to your core, I just want more Why’d you have to know the right things to say? Why’d you have to keep blowing me away? Why’d you have to make me want you so bad? Why’d you have to do that? Why’d you have to give me those eyes, so blue? Why’d you have to love how I look at you? Why’d you have to smile when I kissed you back? Why’d you have to do that? Why’d you have to do that? I keep you just out of reach, ‘cause it’s too good to believe You sweep me off my feet and love every inch of me, yeah Why’d you have to know the right things to say? Why’d you have to keep blowing me away? Why’d you have to make me want you so bad? Why’d you have to do that? Why’d you have to give me those eyes so blue? Why’d you have to love how I look at you? Why’d you have to smile when I kissed you back? Why’d you have to do that? Oh Why’d you have to do that? Oh Why’d you have to do that? Why’d you have to do that? Why’d you have to do that?

about

For this EP, I wanted to cover the emotional spectrum of experiences in love and life; these happened to be the songs we decided best captured those pivotal moments, when my mentality on each situation changed for good.
From innocence, blind trust, and romanticism, moving through confusion, to daring, sass, and assertiveness, there’s a song for every emotion.
Sonically, we wanted to blend Country with Pop, Rock and Folk elements, reflective of my inspirations growing up, and exploring those infusions.
Life naturally has a roller coaster of highs and lows, but I wanted to focus on the fact that there’s always light after a dark storm, and the sun sets, but it always rises again.
So the main messages I wanted people to take away pretty much all run along the same theme: There’s always light to be found. Sometimes you have to go through a lot of dark to get there, and sometimes you just have to remind yourself to soak in every second.
“Make it Slow” is about truly relishing in the beauty of a moment, because you never know when you’ll get another one like it. It’s my Snow-Globe-in-a-song.
“Smoke and Mirrors” reiterates that, when you may feel like you’ve got “nothing left to lose,” the secret is realising you have everything to gain.
“Maybe” is finally realising, after running through every possibility of how you could try to change the past, that you deserve more than holding onto it.
“Mess Around” tells the story of when you are tempted by feelings, that if followed, would compromise your morals and values – It boldly draws the line, when someone is about to cross it.
“Hades” is having the courage to make the incredibly tough decision to walk away from something you once cared deeply about, and never look behind.
“Why’d You Have to?” Is liking someone so much that you hate them a little bit for it; when love hits you like a ton of bricks and neither of you can control it, so you let this beautiful feeling overtake you, and dive in, with reckless abandon.
I’ve learned that people start to heal when they feel heard. The whole reason I want to put out music, is to unleash the potential to make someone else’s life better, as other songwriters (and the cathartic, song-writing process itself) have done for me.
My skills don’t lie in the amazing field of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other life-savers, but if I can inspire healing through music, then I'm living my purpose.
